Shirley Dean Brown, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., was ushered into Heaven Monday, Oct. 22, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley, the daughter of the late Harry and Clara Featherstone Dobbs, was born Nov. 21, 1930 in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of Twin Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She also was a reading grandmother at Eugene Field Elementary School. Shirley loved to spend time with her family and friends, going to church, flower gardening and cooking.
Shirley married Jack C. Brown on June 9, 1949 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include her children, Debbie Johnson and Rita (Frank) Seesengood of Poplar Bluff; daughter-in-law Kathy Brown of Jefferson City; seven grandchildren, Donavan (Gae) Harrison, Larry (Ronda) Brown, Amy (Darek) Folsom, Brad (Polly) Johnson, Jeff Seesengood, Benjamin (Ke'ala) Brown and Andrew (Jessica) Perkins; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Pearce of Poplar Bluff; a sister-in-law, Pat Burgan of Cayahoga Falls, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. A very special sister-in-law Virginia Dobbs of Poplar Bluff also survives.
Also preceding Shirley in death was her beloved son, Daniel Jack Brown; two brothers, Merlin Dobbs and Clyde Dobbs Sr.; a sister, Mary Ann Cole; and a sister-in-law, Joan Dobbs
A visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with a Celebration of Life following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Roger Mayo will officiate and the Rev. Ralph Mayes will assist.
The family wants to express a special thanks to long term caregivers Cindy and Ms. Doris.
