A St. Louis company will help Dexter schools plan for a possible $15 million bond measure that could go before voters in April and might touch a variety of projects district wide.

A letter of intent was approved by the board Oct. 16 with the CTS Group, according to Superintendent C.A. Counts.

CTS helps provide safe and secure learning and working environments by optimizing building efficiencies and implementing necessary infrastructure improvements, according to their website.

The company was one of two St. Louis firms that responded to a request for qualifications, Counts said.

CTS has been involved with more common renovations projects, including an auditorium in Holcomb, he said. The second company was McKinstry.

The district will now begin looking at projects already identified by the long range planning committee, Counts said.

CTS is expected to hold a preliminary meeting with administration and possibly attend the November board meeting.

"We're going to start working with them to kind of get a little more of a scope for what we can do for our bonding capacity. Now we'll start talking a little bit more on the price and the figuring of what we will actually be able to do with this bond money," Counts said following a special board meeting held Oct. 5 to approve CTS as the performance contractor.

The fee for CTS will be 8 percent of total construction costs.

No decisions have been made concerning the exact amount of a possible bond issue, or what specific projects will be included.

The following projects have been identified as needs by the long range committee:

Southwest Elementary

* Addition of four early childhood classrooms and two regular classrooms.

Central Elementary

* Addition of two classrooms and a gymnasium
