Claude Leonard Montgomery, 94, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018 at Westwood Hills Healthcare Center in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Montgomery, the son of the late Ira Franklin and Louise Simmons Montgomery, was born June 10, 1924 in Poplar Bluff. He was of the Baptist faith, and had retired from the maintenance department for Sears Youth Center. Mr. Montgomery proudly served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed hunting, and watching and playing baseball. Mr. Montgomery took great pride in his farm and enjoyed working on it.
In 1947, he married Jerlean Opal Knuckles in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2010.
Other survivors include his children: Linda Faye Montgomery and Randy Montgomery of Poplar Bluff and Ronnie Montgomery and wife Rhonda of Doniphan and Karen Boone and husband Larry Boone, Sr. of Clarkton; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A brother Clyde Montgomery and two sisters Gladys Lucas and Ruby Stone also preceded him in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Montgomery-Sheppard Cemetery with Brother Kevin Eudaley officiating.
