Members of the City of Puxico Board of Aldermen are asking for input from area residents who have grave sites purchased in Section A and Section B of the Puxico City Cemetery. At the time these two section of the cemetery were opened in 1968, the Board of Aldermen adopted an ordinance stating "no marker other than a flat marker shall be erected on any grave site."

At the September 2018, Board of Aldermen meeting, Michael and Mary Rodgers who own grave sites in Section B asked the Board to change the "flat marker" policy to one that would allow upright stones to used as well.

A little over half of the grave sites in Section A and Section B of the Puxico City Cemetery have stones already in place and all of these stones are basically flat.

The Board of Aldermen tabled any decision it might make on this matter until those who have grave sites in Section A and Section B could voice their opinion on the possible change.

If you are a person who has family buried in these sections who have flat stones marking their graves, please contact either City Hall at 573-222-3162 or one of the aldermen-Gary Burns, Peter Coutavas, Charles Fann or G.S. Kilbreth and let the city know how you feel about possibly changing the policy.
