COLUMBIA -- Poplar Bluff softball began its four-game weekend a high note. In the early game of the Columbia Lady Kewpies Classic, the Mules earned a 12-7 win over Kirksville, but couldn't carry that momentum over to its last three games of the weekend.

Poplar Bluff broke a one-all tie in the fourth with seven runs to take control of the game on its way to a win. Audrey Lack led the team with three RBIs.

The late game against Lee's Summit West wasn't as kind to the Mules. They allowed 13 hits on the way to a 10-2 defeat to end their Friday. Lauren Alexander and Abby Gregory were the only Mules to record multiple hits with two apiece.

Hickman secured an early lead against Poplar Bluff by scoring a run or more in each of the first three innings. The Mules eventually fell 9-2 while committing five errors.

In its final game of the weekend, Poplar Bluff (8-13) fell to Ft. Zumwalt South 12-4. Despite connecting on 12 hits, the Mules weren't able to get the same run production as the opposition, which tallied 13 hits. The score was knotted at 4 in the sixth before Ft. Zumwalt South (7-9) ran away with eight runs in the inning.

SOCCER

Poplar Bluff went 1-1 in the Kickapoo Tournament, beating Greenwood 2-0 and losing to North Central 2-0. hayden Penderski scored both goals against Greenwood off of headers on assists from Wyatt Rowland and Tommy Holland.

Friday's Games

BASEBALL

Naylor 15,

Bloomfield 0, 3 inn

Naylor (9-3) sprinted out of the gate to the tune of 14 runs in the first two innings Friday against Bloomfield (0-13). Chase Sarabia continued his strong season with four RBIs on two hits and as many runs scored. Eli Roark struck out four in three innings of work on the mound.

Clearwater 14, Bismarck 3, 6 inn

Jesse Holmes pitched six innings for Clearwater, striking out a dozen and allowing just two earned runs as Clearwater (9-0) continued its unbeaten campaign. The visiting Tigers totaled 15 hits, and Trey Rivas drove in five runs on four hits. Holmes added four RBIs on three hits.

SOFTBALL

Neelyville 7, Van Buren 0

Neelyville (10-6) racked up 12 hits and allowed just four on the way to a shutout of Van Buren (4-9) Friday. Payton Reinbott allowed just four hits, pitching a complete game effort, and she drove in a pair of runs at the plate. Emily Dollins added a solo home run as part of a two-hit day.

Saturday's Games

BASEBALL

Campbell 11,

Bloomfield 0, 5 inn

Gordon Todd tossed a no-hitter and struck out nine batters in a shutout win for Campbell (9-4). At the plate, Jake Hankins tallied three RBIs to lead the Camels. Three different players scored at least two runs for Campbell in a balanced outing for the hosts.

CROSS COUNTRY

Jaden Deaton earned a fourth-place finish for Poplar Bluff boys cross country in the Notre Dame Invitational Saturday. Deaton secured his spot with a time of 16 minutes, 51.99 seconds. Dylan Cisne finished 16th with a time of 18:00.41. Adam Griggs finished 54th for the Mules with a time of 19:38.06, while Seth Ingle placed in the top 75 with a time of 20:03.93.

For Poplar Bluff girls varsity, Katelyn Moeller earned 13th with a time of 21:34.07. Paige Bradley and Faith Griggs finished just outside the top 50 with respective times of 23:52.07 and 24:25.93.

Margo Nea secured a third-place time for the Dexter girls, clocking in at 20:36.33 to help Dexter earn seventh in the team standings.

Carter Dorton turned in a time of 18:53.43 to earn 34th for the Dexter boys varsity squad.

The East Carter boys were led by Wyatt Elliot, who placed 18th with a time of 18:15.20. Kadance Reynolds earned the highest finish for the East Carter girls with a time of 24:53.39, good for 65th.

Emilee Rouggly earned a top-25 spot in the standings for the Woodland girls with a time of 22:04.16. Emily Stewart turned in a time of 22:45.57 to earn 35th on the day.

The Woodland boys were led by Carter Mayfield's 27th-place finish with a time of 18:38.05. Timmothy Sloan was just outside the top 30 at 18:48.64, placing 32nd.

Bloomfield's boys team was led by Nick Carter, who ran a 20:02.41 to finish 73rd.

Greenville's Jagger Robinson represented the boys varsity team with a time of 19:56.67 to place 70th. Kate Bangert clocked a time of 24:05.38 to pace the Greenville girls.
