FISK -- Twin Rivers varsity volleyball earned its first victory of the season in three sets (15-25, 25-19, 25-17) Tuesday against Richland. Kristen Withrow shouldered the bulk of the load offensively with seven kills, and she put up five blocks in a solid defensive performance for the Royals (1-15-2).

Jaylynn Williams finished with three service aces while Alissa Austin and Hannah Burke combined to add three more.

Poplar Bluff 2, Lesterville 1 (25-22, 9-25, 25-20)

Kiley Bess led the Mules (9-7) with 11 kills and three aces in a road win Tuesday. Khelie Spence added nine kills and Haley Slaughter had seven. Adyson Kingree got 24 assists and tied Sophie Rowland for the team lead with four digs.

Wyatt Barnett held South Pemiscot (9-6) scoreless for six innings, striking out 11 in a complete game on the mound. He surrendered just three hits as Bernie (11-4) earned its second win a row. Barnett also filled the stat sheet at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored, two hits and as many RBIs.

CROSS COUNTRY

Emilee Rouggly led Woodland girls cross country with a time of 22 minutes, 20 seconds to finish third in the Chaffee Postal Meet Tuesday. Emily Stewart finished fourth, clocking 22:52, and between the two Woodland runners was Greenville's Kate Bangert in third, running a 22:21. Astraia Demopolous finished in 25:12, while Hailee Green was right behind her at 25:27. Harley Green turned in a 27:26 performance. Ava Arnzen finished the meet in 28:29, while Denyce Harper and Paige Lape turned in respective times of 32:22 and 32:40.

Timothy Sloan paced Woodland boys varsity with a fourth-palce finish, running the meet in 18:30. Carter Mayfield earned sixth by finishing in 18:32. Toby Sloan clocked 19:43. Elijah Davis earned a 19:59. Wyatt Rouggly and Oscar Bravo were neck-and-neck with respective times of 20:21 and 20:27. Isaac Weissinger finished the meet in 20:45, and William Wessinger clocked 22:42.

The Woodland girls earned first place in team standings, while the Woodland boys earned second among varsity boys.

Nic Carter led Bloomfield boys varsity with a 10th-place time of 19:10. Josh Reynolds was just a second behind in 11th and clocked 19:11. Connor Scott turned in a time of 20:54, and Bryant Vaughn was right behind him with a time of 20:57. Andrii Koval rounded out the Bloomfield boys, running a 24:02 time.

For the girls varsity team, Johnna ran an even 26:00, good for 15th. Hannah Jarrell finished with a time of 37:22.

For the Greenville girls, Beatrice Gottschalk ran a time of 27:28. Jayden West clocked 34:18, Laycee Cravens finished in 37:16, and Sarah Purl earned a 37:29.
