A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Roger loved good jokes and good barbecue and he cherished time with friends. Roger made friends easily, loved with his full heart, and valued all of the special relationships he had with so many people he had met throughout his life. Whether it be high school friends that he kept up with constantly, military mates that he served with during the Vietnam war, everyone who crossed his path in the cookie business, or countless others who to anyone else would have been passing acquaintances, Roger's world was full of people he loved and who loved him. His most recent pastime was boxing. Roger solidified wonderful friendships with his coach and fellow boxing partners at Rock Steady Boxing of Decatur, AL, and he adored his time in the boxing gym.
A memorial service to commemorate Roger's life will be held at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 1450 Sparkman St NW, Hartselle, Alabama on Friday, September 28th at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
