Members of the Wappapello Lake Area Association will need additional volunteers to go through Christmas lights and other items for the annual Festival of Lights Auto Tour, the group reported this month.

WLAA met Sept. 11, with 15 people attending.

A date of Oct. 6 was discussed to go through the items, according to the minutes.

An initial date of Nov. 2 or Nov. 9 was also discussed for participants to start setting up.

The event will be staffed by WLAA from Nov. 23 to dusk Dec. 23. The last day to drive through at night will be Dec. 31.

Displays will need to be taken down by Jan. 11. The U.S. Corps of Engineers will process permit applications for displays. Safety and advertising ideas were also discussed.

The group reports a bank balance of $11,241.75 and a fireworks balance of $9,024.40.

Andrew Jefferson introduced Wappapello Lake's new assistant operations manager Carlos Lopez.

The fireworks committee reported a meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at Totten Lakeside Resort.

Other reports were heard from the Chaonia Volunteer Fire Department, Mingo Job Corps, Crowley's Ridge Black Powder Club, Cape Arrowhead and concerning Old Greenville Days.

WLAA will meet again at 6 p.m. Oct. 9.
