PUXICO, Mo. - Ernest E. Newell, 83, of Wappapello, MO, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Mark Twain Nursing Center. Mr. Newell was born on February 19, 1935 in Wappapello. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a lifetime member of the Wappapello VFW #3416. Mr. Newell was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He formerly served in the Honor Guard and the Military Police and was retired from the Veterans Administration.
On March 17, 1987 he married Susan Boyt in Wappapello.
Mr. Newell is survived by his wife, a daughter; Debra Sak, a son; Jon Hise and a sister; Joy Hale of Wappapello.
Visitation will be at noon, Thursday, September 20 at Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the Morgan Sifford Chapel with Rev. Ray Placher officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be in the Wappapello Cemetery.
