Cindy Vega, 59, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at her residence.
She was born on July 22, 1959 to Jettie (Sauls) Voisine in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from Twin Rivers High School in 1977. On September 26, 1986 she married Francisco Vega, Sr. in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2015.
She was a breast cancer survivor and many other health challenges and struggles.
Cindy loved her husband, children, and grandchildren unconditionally. She was a strong woman who fought for the things she loved and was passionate about. Her door was always open to cook for anyone that needed a meal and enjoyed preparing food and cooking for family gatherings. Cindy liked Bingo, the color purple, and most importantly words can not describe how much she loved Prince.
Ancient lovers believed a kiss would literally unite their souls, because the spirit was said to be carried in one's breath. This was never more evident than when Cindy first met and kissed Francisco as a bet after a Michael Jackson concert because he looked like Prince.
Cindy is survived by her children, Christina (David) Lewis of Poplar Bluff, MO,Francisco (Cassie) Vega, Jr. of Poplar Bluff, MO, Shawn Vega of Poplar Bluff, MO, Elijah Vega of Poplar Bluff, MO, Cody Robbins of Poplar Bluff, MO and Shawna (Allen) Kanell of Poplar Bluff, MO; fifteen grandchildren, Justice Lewis, Jada Lewis, David (Brandie Elsperman) Lewis, IV, Shakira Lewis, D'artanyan Vega, Francisco Vega, III, Trista'n Kanell, Kobe Kanell, Noah Kanell, Lilli Kanell, Jazlynn Lewis, Jocelynn Lewis, Jaylon Lewis, Amir Lewis, and MarKeia Porter; Grayson Lewis; her mother-in-law, Dee Dee Vega of Rockaway Beach, MO; In-laws, Willie and Grace Schrock of Irving, TX; one sister, Rebecca Gilmore of Dyersburg, TN; two sister-in-laws, Tammy Schrock of Irving, TX and Marcella Vega of Minneapolis, MN; three brother-in-laws, De'Allgo Vega of Lake View Terrace, CA, Fundalo Vega of Portland, OR, Wes Gilmore of Dyersburg, TN; her aunt, Margaret Sauls of The Villages, FL; her cousins Jamie and Kelly McCarter; her nephew, Brandon Jewell of Tampa Bay, FL and niece, Jessica White of Tampa Bay, FL; and her uncle, Danny Sauls.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Anna Mae Vega; her mother, her father, Chico Vega; and one brother-in-law, Roger Foster.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 12:00-2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Service in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral services will be immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the Moore Funeral Service Chapel with Sheldon Tyler officiating. Burial will take place in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
