FISK, Mo., -- Morris Chester Nelson, age 95, of Fisk, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Mr. Nelson was born Sept. 13, 1922 in Bernie, Mo., son of the late Bill and Nellie Nelson.
He was a member of Twin Rivers General Baptist Church at Fisk and served in the Army during WWII. He was formerly married to Betty Marie Conner. She preceded him in death on May 9, 1977. On Nov. 8, 1978 he married Shirley Vinson at Kennett, Mo. She preceded him on Jan. 8, 2017. He is survived by a step-son: Terry Vinson and wife Velva of Poplar Bluff; one stepdaughter: Claudia Rasuschenbach of Poplar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews: He was preceded in death by one brother: Ralph Nelson Sr. three Sisters: Oleta Murphy, Marie Ganim and Jean Chamberlain.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Adam Mathias officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley, Mo.
