Always having an interest in politics and looking for a position that would fit what he had to offer is how Brock Williams came to decision to run for Stoddard County presiding commissioner.
Williams said he was interested in an elected position that would not take him away from his family at this time while his children are young.
"The presiding commissioner is basically running the business of Stoddard County," he said. "I have a business background so I think that's a really good fit for what I have to offer."
If elected, Williams said his goal is to be as transparent as possible to the citizens of the county as to what's going on with their tax dollars.
He added he will be just as transparent with how the funds are being used and what's happening.
"The commission has a lot of effect on what's going on with things in the county," Williams said. "I want people to be involved with what's happening with the tax dollars in our county."
Williams added a challenge for any place dealing with a tax base is the fact everything is getting more expensive, including increasing taxes.
"One of the challenges is finding the best way to use the money we have coming in to do the most with it, but not blow the doors out with how you're spending money," he said.
Infrastructure is another challenge Williams sees facing Stoddard County.
As things deteriorate over time, if elected, Williams said he will use tax funds in a proper manner to deal with items that are most needed at the time, while being responsible to try and not spend more than is available.
Running a business and dealing with budgets is an asset Williams said he can bring to the group of commissioners.
He also added he is open to talking to people and dealing with the concerns they have.
"I try to be diplomatic in regards to understanding what's going on with the situation and then make a decision that is best for the situation," Williams said. "You are not always going to make people happy, that's regretfully part of it, but I will make the best decision for the situation."
