WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- A man drowned over the weekend at Wappapello Lake.
According to the report, Randall L. Scott, 59, of Wappapello was swimming at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, two miles north of the dam, when he became fatigued, went under the water and never resurfaced.
Scott was recovered and pronounced dead at the scene at 2:55 p.m. Sunday by Sheriff Dean Finch and was taken by ambulance to Morrison-Worley Funeral Home in Piedmont.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office, forest service agents, conservation agents and U.S. Army Corp of Engineer rangers all assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in the incident.
Scott was the ninth drowning for Troop E in 2018.
