Local authorities are searching for a non-compliant sex offender who missed his required 90-day address verification check-in.
Poplar Bluff Police Capt. David Sutton said Michael Heath Owen, 37, failed to verify his current address with the Butler County Sheriff's Department.
Sutton said authorities believe Owen is still living in the Poplar Bluff area.
According to a search on Missouri Case.net, Owen pleaded guilty in 2009 to second degree statutory rape of a minor female in Greene County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry lists the minor as a 16-years-old when the act occurred. The sex offender registry lists Owen as non-compliant.
Owen currently has an active failure to appear warrant issued for his arrest on original charges of attempting to deliver a controlled substance to a correctional facility.
Sutton said authorities have applied for a non-compliant sex offender warrant, but it was not yet issued by press time.
