Construction has started on two new retail buildings in Poplar Bluff, as a dental clinic prepares to open on the north side.
Space for approximately 17 businesses is planned for two buildings on Tucker Road, near Shelby Road, said David Kearbey of Turn-Key Investments. The buildings will be similar to one constructed by Turn-Key at Three Rivers Boulevard and Shelby, he said.
Two restaurants and a beauty salon have expressed interest in the new locations, Kearbey said.
Foundations have already been poured for the two buildings, which will be approximately 20,000 square feet combined. They are scheduled to be finished before 2019, Kearbey said.
The foundation is also complete for a new Dollar General to be located in the 700 block of East Pine. This location is expected to replace the downtown Dollar General on Main Street.
The new building will be just under 10,000 square feet. A general contractor has secured work to continue construction this month, according to documents filed with the city planning department. A timeline for completion has not been released.
Aspen Dental in the Eight Points shopping center will likely open by mid-July, according to the planning department.
Aspen received permits to do $250,000 in work at their location next to Jimmy John's. The company has more than 660 locations across 37 states. In the past two months, offices have also opened in Sedalia, Missouri, as well as Texas, Florida, Arizona, South Carolina and West Virginia.
Turn-Key has permits currently for $400,000 in new construction on Tucker Road.
