NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- June 5, 1937 in the Essex, Mo. area, Louie Fred Burns, known as Pat Burns to the family, was born to Elmer and Lydia. Louie grew up with nine other children in his family: Dewey Leon, Jim, John, Imogene, Billi Jean, Mary Belle, Floyd, Patricia (Toots), and Lucille. Pat went to school as much as he was able, he said he really enjoyed going and learning. He and his brothers helped work in his dad's sawmill.
In 1958, Louie met his soul mate, Gloria Kitz. He told the story of when he first met Gloria: He was in Naylor, on a Saturday evening and saw her. Gloria had stopped to buy a soda after working in the cotton field that day. Pat said he thought she was a beautiful girl and was a worker so he knew he better get to know her better! On Dec. 27, 1958, Louie and Gloria were married. Louie was in the service and was deployed to Korea soon after. Pat was in the army for three years and when he got out and came home he met his baby daughter, Jennie. Pat and Gloria, moved back to the Naylor area and made their home while farming and raising three more children: Gary, Ronald, and John.
Around 1980, the couple moved to Oklahoma where Louie worked in heavy construction, a lot of which was oilfield related. They lived in Kremlin until Gloria's death, March 17, 2017. Louie was currently living independently in Kremlin, Okla. near his daughter and two of his sons. Louie enjoyed fishing with Gloria and later his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He got a kick watching the great-grandchildren play sports! He loved family very much -- family was super important to him! He'd call different family members every weekend and sometimes during the week just to check up and make certain they were doing well.
Louie leaves behind his children: Jennie (Mark-deceased), Gary (Belinda), Ron (Cathie), and John (Lisa). Pat had 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren whom he loved equally! His two sisters: Billi Jean Phipps and Patricia (Toots) Forsythe. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews-all holding a special place in his heart. Previously deceased siblings: John, Jim, Leon, Floyd, Imogene, Lucille, Mary Belle.
We will miss him day and night. Love you Dad, Grandpa, Louie/Pat!
Visitation for Mr. Burns will be July 3, 2018 after 6 p.m. at Fowler and Sons Funeral Home in Neelyville, Mo. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Fowler and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Donny Emmons will be officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
