DEXTER, Mo. -- An autopsy has been scheduled for today following the suspected homicide of a Dexter man.
Few details have been released concerning the death of Jimmy Lynn Casey, 66, as the Stoddard County Major Case Squad continues to investigate.
More information is expected following the autopsy, according to Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope. It was scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in Farmington.
Casey was pronounced dead at 8:19 a.m. Thursday at his Mulberry Street home, Pope said.
"I think this is one of the first homicides we've had in Dexter for a while," said Pope, who also couldn't remember the last homicide in Stoddard County.
Authorities were called at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday about a possible deceased male inside a home in the 1100 block of North Mulbery, said Dexter Police Chief Trevor Pulley.
The major case squad, Pulley said, was activated immediately to investigate.
Dr. Russell Deidiker is conducting the autopsy.
Anyone with information regarding Casey's death is asked to call Dexter Capt. Hank Trout or Lt. Cory Mills at 573-624-5512.
