Stanley P. Holder, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
Stan, the son of the late Elmer and Clara Ballard Holder, was born Dec. 30, 1944 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. During his earlier years Stan owned and operated a flatbed trailer and truck company and currently was working as a job supervisor for Young's General Contracting Inc. in Poplar Bluff. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and was a member of the American Kennel Club. Stan was passionate about raising show dog beagles, which he proudly entered into shows around the country. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and attended as many games as possible. He also enjoyed rebuilding antique cars, fishing and hunting.
He married the love of his life Linda Morse on June 8, 1984 in Hendrickson, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include two children, Derrick Holder and wife Amy and Vicky Holder; five grandchildren, Brayden, Brooke, Julia, Justin and wife Kyleigh and Brett; a great-grandson Zaxon; a sister Linda Chapin; a brother-in-law Charles Morse and wife Shirley; two sisters-in-law Sandra Lowrey and Shirley Holder; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Two brothers Leroy Holder and Eugene Holder and two sisters Betty Wilson and Joyce Baltz also preceded Stan in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel with the funeral service following at 12 p.m. Pastor Randy West will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
