CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- A Licking, Mo., man was sentenced to more than four years in federal prison Wednesday for illegally possessing a firearm stolen from a Wayne County home.
Randy Gene Harris Jr., 35, was sentenced to 54 months in prison on one felony count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon by U.S. District Judge John A. Ross, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
At his March 22 plea, Harris reportedly admitted he had possession of a Hi-Point 9mm caliber rifle. The rifle was among five firearms stolen from a home in Wayne County on Feb. 8, 2017, when a group of persons entered the home and assaulted the owner.
Harris reportedly has a prior felony conviction for theft.
A codefendant, Stephen Joseph Trolinger, 32, of Silva, Mo., pleaded guilty Dec. 18 to one felony count of accessory after the fact relating to the events of Feb. 8, 2017.
Trolinger was sentenced on March 22 to 27 months imprisonment.
This case was investigated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Keith D. Sorrell handled the prosecution for the government.
