If we want our Christian life to be what God intended it to be, and want it to have vitality and purpose--or we want it to be backed by supreme authority, then Jesus Christ must be made Lord of our lives as well as of Heaven. I want Him to be Lord of life, for I need someone I love and can entrust my life to, and give me the strength and inspiration to serve God as my Father in a sin-loving world.
Hebrew1:1-5 says: "God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophet, hath in these last days (Christian dispensation) spoken unto us by His Son, who He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom He also made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than angels, as He hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they....For unto which of the angels said He at any time, 'Thou art My Son, this day have I begotten Thee? And I will be unto Me a Son.'" To none, for angels are created beings, but Jesus co-existed with the Father from all eternity in some incomprehensible way as the Word. Then in the fullness of time--when the time was right by God's time-table--the Word was made flesh by being born of a human mother. To this God attested at His baptism, and again on the Mount of Transfiguration, at which time He added the words "Hear ye Him." See Matthew 17:1-5. Yes, by His very nature as one of the eternal God-head, He is Lord of all.
Philippians 2:8-11 says: "And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross. Wherever God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name that is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow--and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father."
Everyone who is too proud, too arrogant or loves sin too much to repent and commit their life unto Him in final judgement stand before Him in everlasting shame and regret and acknowledge Him as Lord of all.
