Forsman
Sonja Renee McKinney-Forsman, age 54, of Rossville, Tenn, passed away on the morning of Monday, May 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Josh Forsman and mother to Chelsea and Dylan Forsman.
Sonja was born on Dec. 2, 1963 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the daughter of Bonnie Chrisman and the late Norman McKinney. On June 29, 1989, she married Josh Forsman at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas prior to moving to Nevada to start a family. In 1998, in order to be closer to family, Sonja, her husband and two children moved back to Missouri eventually settling in Memphis, Tenn.
Sonja was an incredible and strong woman who loved her family more than anything. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, going to the casino, vacationing to Pensacola Beach, Fla., celebrating holidays, shopping with her daughter, and baking her Granny Mae's pumpkin cookies for her son.
She is survived by her husband, Josh Forsman of Rossville; two children, Chelsea Forsman of Asheville, N.C. and Joshua Dylan Forsman of Rossville; her mother, Bonnie Chrisman, and stepfather, Jerry Chrisman of Dexter, Mo.; daughter-in-law to John and Janice Forsman of Wappapello, Mo.; her two sisters, Tonja Wolk (husband Joe Wolk) and Tracy Denisczcuk (husband Mark Denisczcuk) of St. Louis, Mo.; and sister-in-law to John and Pam Forsman of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
At Sonja's request, the graveside funeral and burial will be held at her family's church, Hamtown Church of Poplar Bluff at 10 a.m. Thursday May 24, 2018. A small luncheon will follow in the chapel for friends and family to gather and honor her life and love.
