NEELYVILLE, Mo. -- Shirley Joann Thompson, 78, of Naylor, passed away May 11, 2018 in Doniphan. She was born May 8, 1940 at Buncombe, Mo. to the late G.Henry Hamlett and Thelma Frye Hamlett. On Jan. 4, 1970 at Farmington, Mo. she was married to Carl Andrew Thompson. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Tim Thompson and wife Amanda of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Larry Thompson and wife Jamie of Naylor and Angie Jones and husband Harold of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; two sisters, Ruth Russell and husband James of Naylor and Faith Hamlett; six grandchildren: Kim Brooks, Sarah, Kristin, Zach, Julie and Rebekah Thompson as well as four great-grandchildren: Eligeh, Isaiah, Madison and Mason.
Besides her husband, and parents, she is also preceded in death by one grandson, Kris Eidson.
She worked for the public school system as a cook and enjoyed reading, cooking and her grandchildren.
Visitation for Shirley will be Saturday, May 19, starting at noon with the funeral following at 2 p.m. in the Fowler and Sons Funeral Home of Neelyville, Mo. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery with Donnie Fowler officiating.
