JACKSON -- Poplar Bluff's Nathan Woolard won the SEMO Conference Tournament with a 1-under 71 Friday at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson.

Woolard beat teammate Justin Pierce by two strokes as the Mules finished second overall with a team score of 314.

Jackson won the team championship with a 300 team score. Kennet was third with a 332, Notre Dame took fourth (351) and Dexter was fifth (357).

Dexter's Spencer Warren shot a 77 and tied for seventh overall with Nate Hulshof of Notre Dame.

BASEBALL

Kennett 5, Dexter 2

The third-seeded Kennett Indians struck for three runs in the third inning Saturday and beat seventh-seeded Dexter 5-2 Saturday in a consolation semifinal of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament at Cape Central High School.

The Indians will face Notre Dame in the fifth-place game at 2:15 p.m. Monday. Dexter (3-12) will meet New Madrid County Central for seventh place at noon Monday. Both games will be played at Capaha Park in Cape Girardeau.

Payton Heinley drove home the go-ahead run with a double, and Patrick Maddox singled home a run for a 3-1 Kennett lead.

Jackson 17, Dexter 3

Second-seeded Jackson scored nine first-inning runs and rolled to a 17-3 victory over the seventh-seeded Dexter Bearcats in the first round of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament on Friday at Jackson.

The Bearcats, who took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a single by Spencer Owens, cut their deficit to 9-3 with two in the second, but Jackson scored six in the home half of the inning and two more in the third to secure the win.

The Bearcats (3-11), who will face Kennett in the second round at noon Saturday at Cape Central High School, committed five errors in the loss.

Cordell Holt had two of Dexter's four hits. He and Kris Rinehart drove home runs in the second inning.

Bernie 4, Leopold 1

Wyatt Barnett homered and pitched a no-hitter. He allowed one unearned run with eight strikeouts and three walks in seven innings.

The Mules (10-5) scored two runs in the first, one in the second and one in the fifth. Leopold scored its only run in the top of the second.

Barnett hit a solo homer in the second inning, and Nate Dillinger hit a solo home run in the first.

Dillinger finished 2 for 2, and Gavin Brown doubled as part of the Mules' seven-hit attack.

Bloomfield 7, Gideon 1

Gage McNeil homered, and Tre Jones struck out 11 leading the Wildcats on Friday.

McNeil went 2 for 3, including a solo homer in the fifth inning.

Dustin Debeaux went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Dalton Phillips went 2 for 3 with an RBI, as part the Wildcats' eight-hit performance.

The Wildcats (4-14-1) scored one run in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. Gideon scored its lone run in the fourth.

Woodland 18, Puxico 8

Woodland exploded for 11 runs in the fourth inning when the score was tied.

Jordan Armstrong went 2 for 4 with three RBIs to lead Puxico's nine-hit attack. Thomas Ellsworth went 2 for 3 with a double and one RBI, and Dalton Phillips went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

East Carter 16, Lesterville 2

Five Redbird pitchers combined for a four hitter as East Carter won in five innings Friday. Jordan Douglas had a home run and three RBIs. Jake Andrews went 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs.

Ellington 9, Naylor 8

Naylor scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning, but the rally fell short Friday.

Caleb Richards was 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs to lead Ellington. He also started on the mound and allowed four hits and no walks with five strikeouts over three innings.

Seth Jones was 3 for 4 with four RBIs fir Naylor. Jordan Cook and Evan Bergeron were both 2 for 4 with two runs.

SOFTBALL

Potosi 14, Bernie 4

Potosi scored 11 fourth-inning runs Saturday in the Spring Pink Softball Tournament at East City Park in Dexter.

Bernie (20-2) led 4-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning.

Alyson Marcum, who went 3 for 3 with a double for Bernie, singled home a run in the top of the fourth to give Bernie a three-run lead.

Bernie finished with seven hits. McKayla Turner had two of them.

Benrie also beat Kennett 9-3 in the tournament.

The Mules scored three run in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Marcum earned the win, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with eight strikeouts and no walks in seven innings.

Marcum went 4 for 4 with a double and three RBIs to lead Bernie's 11-hit attack. Jackie Corbin went 2 for 4 with a double and one RBI, and Taylor Anthony went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Bernie 6, Oran 3

Alyson Marcum went 3 for 3 with a double, a home run, four RBIs and pitched to lead the Mules over Oran on Friday.

Marcum allowed three runs (none earned) on five hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks in seven innings.

Logan Mayberry, who went 2 for 2 with three runs scored, dashed home on a wild pitch in the fifth for a 5-0 lead.

Puxico 17, Woodland 3

Mckensie Smith homered and Victoria Burch hit three doubles to lead Puxico.

Smith went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, and Burch went 3 for 4 with four RBIs.

The Indians (8-6, 4-1 SCAA) amassed 10 hits in a game that ended after 4 1/2 innings because of the 10-run rule.

Van Buren 8, Alton 1

Makenna Chilton was 4 for 4 with five RBIs and a run for the Lady Dawgs. Lanae Flowers also went 4 for 4 with two runs and an RBI while Logan Crafton had a home run. Jalynn Morgan allowed two hits and no walks with five strikeouts in the complete-game win Friday.
