CORNING, Ark. -- Rev. Charles Colbert, 80, of Corning passed away April 27, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro surrounded by family. CPO Rev. Colbert was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Lake City, Arkansas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. ...

CORNING, Ark. -- Rev. Charles Colbert, 80, of Corning passed away April 27, 2018, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro surrounded by family.

CPO Rev. Colbert was born Jan. 26, 1938, in Lake City, Arkansas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. He loved to preach the gospel and was formerly a minister at Calvary Baptist Church, Corning, Reyno First Baptist Church, Bayless Highway Baptist, Starke, Florida, and Fisher First Baptist. He most recently ministered at Knobel First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and bowling.

On May 18, 1957, he married Barbara Ann Rice. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Charles Ray (Linda) Colbert of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Tom Colbert of Corning, and Joann (Kevin) Bell of Pocahontas; sisters, Loretta Swain of Jonesboro and Barbara Sue Colbert of Texas; grandchildren, Thomas, Philip, Kaleb and Savannah Colbert, Christina Kurtz, and Barbara Rasado; great-grandchildren, Christian and Gabriel Kurtz, Lily, Abigail, and Jose Rasado; sister-in-law, Shirley Wood; nephews Jerry Lynn Swain and Matthew Bell; niece, Kala Wells; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Beatrice (Morrison) Colbert; grandson, Charles Ray Colbert III, and sister, Lavera Colbert.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Ermert Funeral Home, Corning from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Hovis officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery.
