Doug Perkins, 61, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his residence after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 18, 1956 to Francis and Peggy (Sanders) Perkins in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from St. Louis Christian Academy. ...

Doug Perkins, 61, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his residence after a valiant battle with cancer.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1956 to Francis and Peggy (Sanders) Perkins in St. Louis, Mo. He graduated from St. Louis Christian Academy. After graduation Doug enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned duty on the USS Roosevelt. He married Patricia LaRue on Feb. 14, 2000 in Valley Park, Mo. She preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2016. He spent the past several years of his life caring for his mother.

Doug enjoyed fishing, and collecting coins, guns, and super hero memorabilia. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his three sons, Jason Perkins of Florissant, Mo., Tony Bunn and wife Leanna of Springfield, Mo., and Gregory Williamson and wife Amy of Pacific, Mo.; three daughters, Mindy Perkins of Poplar Bluff, Desi Nahlan and husband Jon of Russellville, Ark., and Melissa Bunn of Imperial, Mo.; nine grandchildren; his mother, Peggy Perkins of Blytheville, Ark.; one brother, Frank (Carla) Perkins of Plano, Tex.; three sisters, Peggy (Gary) Jarus of Hillsboro, Mo., Dee (Steve) Smith, and Dianne (Leon) Miller of Blytheville, Ark.; and several nieces, nephews, family, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife and father.

Burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
