That's two records now for Allison Pingel.

A day after breaking the single-season home run record of 15, Pingel broke the single-season RBI record of 62 as Three Rivers swept St. Charles, winning the opener 9-0 in five innings and the nightcap 10-3 on Thursday at Rains Field.

"It is nice to have those days where you can relax a little bit and get everybody some playing time," Three Rivers coach Jeff Null said. "We just came out and hit the ball. It allows the hitters to relax a little bit, pitchers to relax a little bit, and they threw well."

Pingel hit two RBIs in each game, giving her 66 for the season. She also hit her 18th home run in the opener and the freshman is now just four home runs shy of the career record of 22.

"It is pretty exciting. Coming in here my freshman year, I didn't expect to be doing all that, but it started happening, things started to get put together and I am very proud of myself," Pingel said. "I don't want to get that big of a head, I don't want to put that much pressure, but if I did it that would be an honor."

As a senior in high school, Pingel hit six home runs, two in three different games. She's had four multi-home run games this season, all since March 22.

"I just put in a lot of work in our workouts and just getting stronger. The mental, knowing that I'm capable of it," said Pingel, who also attributed the home runs to more college workouts and learning to elevate the ball and not hit so many line-drive doubles.

She is just the second Raider to ever hit 10 home runs in their freshman season. Abby Tillotson hit 12 in 2015, breaking the then single-season record of 11. Tillotson transferred to Southeast Missouri State before her sophomore season and is currently a senior there.

The power-hitting Lady Raiders, with a .526 team slugging percentage and a .349 batting average, have 42 home runs so far with six games remaining in the regular season.

Ally Law is second on the team with eight home runs and Kristyn Carpenter has seven.

Leadoff hitter Randi Scruggs, who needs three triples to tie the single-season and career triples records, joined the party Thursday with her first collegiate home run.

Scruggs kicked off the opener with a home run in the bottom of the first inning that she initially thought was going to be an out.

"I was ecstatic. I thought it was a pop-up, so I didn't expect to actually get to run the bases all the way around," said Scruggs, who had an in-the-park home run last year but doesn't really count that. "When I rounded first I saw it bounce over.

"It is especially exciting for me since switching from the right side to the left side and not being a power hitter is pretty exciting."

Law also had a home run in the first inning as Three Rivers jumped on the Cougars (5-29, 1-17 Region XVI) with a 5-0 lead after two innings.

In the nightcap, Three Rivers (32-11, 15-3 Region XVI) was scoreless after two and trailing 1-0.

"She was getting ahead and then she was nibbling. We wanted to be more aggressive on that first pitch, not be so picky. Even if it is on the corner. She's not throwing that hard, hit it. And so we got to her a little bit after that," Null said. "We've struggled at times this year making adjustments and it was nice to see us make that adjustment in the third inning and not the sixth inning."

Gracie King was 2 for 2 with two runs in the game and Law scored three times.

Summer Shockley won her 20th game after allowing one hit and a walk with seven strikeouts over four innings. Kari Hatridge pitched the fifth and struck out two.

With the shutout, Shockley (20-4) now has an ERA of 1.72 and is fourth in the country with 204 strikeouts.

Three Rivers didn't start quite as fast in the nightcap, but still led 6-2 after four innings.

Scruggs was 3 for 5 with two runs while the top four batters had nine of Three Rivers' 13 hits and scored six runs.

Carleigh Burnett (3-3) pitched five innings and allowed seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Shockley pitched the final two and allowed one hit and no walks with five strikeouts.
