ELLINGTON, Mo.-- Donald "Duke" Brannum, 64, of Ellsinore, Mo. departed this life Friday, March 30, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Duke was born Nov. 9, 1953 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. to the late Barbara Louise (Thacker) Brannum and Nolan Loren Knuckles.
Duke was lovingly raised by his mother and father; in his teens he accepted Christ as his Savior and attributed his salvation to his favorite aunt Shirley. He later attended the Lower Doe Run Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized and became a member.
Duke worked treating Creosote Ties at Scott Post; he was known as an exceptional worker and a wonderful supporter of his family. In his off time he loved hunting and working out in the yard; mowing and gardening. More than anything he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
On Feb. 21, 2014 Duke was united in marriage to Kim Jordan in Salem, Mo. To this union a son was born.
In addition to his mother and father, Barbara and Nolan; Duke is also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Alma Jordan.
Survivors include his wife Kim Brannum of Ellsinore; two sons, David Nolan Brannum of Van Buren, Mo. and Draven Jerry Jordan Brannum of Ellsinore; one daughter, Amanda Chilton and husband Jeremy of Van Buren; two step-daughters, Karlie Dawn Jordan of Poplar Bluff and Kay C Todd and fiancé Dustin Long of Lees Summit, Mo; three grandchildren, MaKenna Paige, Jackson Carter and Sawyer Jacob Chilton, all of Van Buren; one step grandson, Zavion Long; four sisters, Dottie Scott and husband Kenny of Poplar Bluff, Mary Jo Lynn and husband Don of Wappeppello, Mo., Nola Scott and husband Randy of Fairdealing and Teresa Gaddis and husband Russell of Poplar Bluff; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends left to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held starting at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 starting at McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington. Funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 in the Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Skaggs officiating. Burial to follow in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
