DEXTER, Mo. -- Norman Capps, 94, the son of the late Clarence Norman and Cora Belle Aslin Capps, was born near Bloomfield, Mo. Dec. 14, 1923, and passed away at The Arbors at Victorian Place in Washington, Mo. Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
He had lived in Dexter for many years, he moved to Poplar Bluff in 2004 and had moved to Washington about four years ago. He was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington, Mo. He retired as an inspector with the Missouri Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures Division. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of the V.F.W. He had served on the Liberty Township Board for many, many years and served as the township clerk.
On Feb. 19, 1950, he was married to Meredeth L. Morris in Hornersville, Mo. She preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2006.
Surviving are one daughter and husband, Brenda and Ken Johnson of Washington, Mo.; one son and wife, Larry and Kimberly Capps of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ferguson of Fenton, Mo., Kristen Lohbeck of St. Louis, Mo., Taylor Capps and Justin Capps, both of Poplar Bluff; and four great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Cletus "Pete" Capps, Ralph Capps and Osal Capps, and one sister in infancy.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter with the Rev. William Hennecke of Dexter officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
