PENSACOLA, Fla. --For a second day the Poplar Bluff baseball team pounded Rockford (Ala.) Central.
The Mules hit six home runs and got another no-hitter, this time from senior Cole Dickerson, in a 24-0 win Tuesday at the Pensacola Spring Break Classic.
Poplar Bluff (6-0) will play Lighthouse Christian in one nine-inning game Wednesday afternoon for the championship. The four-day tournament was cut short due to expected rain for Thursday.
A day after hitting two home runs and pitching a four-inning no-hitter, Mason Libla hit a 2-run homer in an eight-run first inning, led the Mules with three hits and caught Dickerson's no-hitter.
Tyson Cox drove in six runs, hitting a 3-run homer while Turner Fritts hit a grand slam and Jaxon Huffman hit a 2-run homer in a 14-run second inning.
Dickerson and Noah Burkey hit consecutive solo home runs in the fourth to set the final score.
In eight innings between two games at Tiger Point Park the Mules have hit nine home runs and not allowed a single hit.
Dickerson struck out seven and walked two in four innings.
The trip has featured a team-building experiences with a visit to the beach, the National Naval Aviation Museum and a minor league hockey game.
