SEDALIA Mo. -- A miserable day of weather wasn't helped by getting swept by State Fair.
The Raiders faced cold temperatures, 20 mph wind from the north and rain, losing 6-0 and 5-4 in 11 innings.
In the opener, Three Rivers (8-13, 4-10 Region XVI) left runners on base in each of the first five innings while State Fair put up five runs in the first inning.
Quentin Bowling (1-3) allowed seven hits and three walks with three strikeouts in the loss. He pitched five innings.
"He wasn't as sharp as he has been but he held them in check," Three Rivers coach Stacey Burkey said.
Parker Dent (3-1) took the loss in relief in the nightcap. He took the mound with one out in the sixth inning and pitched 4 2/3 while allowing four hits and three walks with no strikeouts.
In the 11th inning of the nightcap, State Fair got its leadoff hitter on base, he stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. The Raiders intentionally walked the bases full and brought in Bryce Alcorn to put a different look on the mound. He worked a full count before giving up a hit that bounced off Grant Miller's glove at short for the winning run.
Hitting in the No. 2 spot in the lineup for the first time this season, William Stalling reached base seven times in the doubleheader. He was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in the nightcap. In the opener, he was 1 for 1, and reached on a walk and was hit by a pitch.
"With the guys we have injured, we haven't been able to play a lot of different guys, we've just been moving some guys around," Burkey said. -- DAR
