IMPERIAL, Mo. -- After giving up three goals in two games last season against Seckman, the Poplar Bluff soccer team held the Jaguars to just one Tuesday.

Rachel Ray scored the lone goal as Seckman edged the Mules 1-0.

Lauren Isbell provided the assist while Alyssa Kerperien recorded the shutout in Seckman's season opener.

Poplar Bluff (1-1) faces Notre Dame in the opening round of the Noon Optimist Soccer Tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cape Central. The winner advances to play at 8:30 p.m. Thursday against either Saxony Lutheran or the host Tigers. The losers play at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Seckman won the junior varsity game 5-0.

GOLF

Dexter sophomore Spencer Warren shot a 5-over 41 Tuesday to win medalist honors in a four-team boys golf match at Kennett Country Club.

Warren led the Bearcats to a second-place finish in their season opener. The Bearcats posted 181.

Kennett won the match with 174. Sikeston was third with 211 and Caruthersville was fourth with 227.

Ryan Collier's 45, Jake Harris' 46 and Brad Freeman's 49 rounded out the Bearcats' team score.

Gabe Jackson shot 55, and Matt Agey had 60 for Dexter.
