A community-wide event offering flapjacks and philanthropy will be held from 6 a.m. to noon on Saturday when the Kiwanis Club of Poplar Bluff hosts it's 80th Annual Pancake Breakfast. Open to the public and $5 per person, the feast will be located in the cafeteria of Poplar Bluff Junior High School.

Kiwanis Club President Asa Wyatt said all funds raised will benefit phase two of the all-inclusive playgrounds at Kiwanis' Bacon Memorial Park.

"We hope everyone comes out to see us Saturday morning," Wyatt said. "Overall, it's a pretty inexpensive breakfast and the money goes to a good cause."

The all-inclusive playground at Bacon Park allows children of all abilities to play together and is compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.

Installation of phase one was completed during the summer, and phase two, Wyatt said, will nearly double it's size. He anticipates the expansion to cost approximately $100,000.

Tickets for the 80th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast can be purchased at the door on the morning of the event or from any Kiwanis Club member. Beverages and side items will also be available.
