JACKSON, Mo. -- Sikeston claimed its third straight SEMO Conference title with an 84-70 win at Jackson on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs led by five in the third quarter before pulling away with a 10-point run that ended with a four-point play by Fred Thatch, who was fouled as he banked in a 3-pointer.

Thatch led the Bulldogs with 27 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Sikeston and Poplar Bluff both finished 7-1 but the Bulldogs claimed their eighth conference title in the last 11 seasons after beating the Mules 74-56 on Feb. 2.

A win by Jackson, which won the meeting last year by two at Sikeston, would have given Poplar Bluff its first conference title since 2006.

NOTRE DAME 71, DEXTER 47

The Bulldogs took control in the second quarter Tuesday night and defeated short-handed Dexter at the Bearcat Event Center.

Notre Dame held a 10-8 lead after one quarter of the SEMO Conference matchup but outscored the Bearcats 26-10 in the second to take a 36-18 halftime lead.

Dexter's Gabe Jackson scored a game-high 24 points. Braxton Foster just missed double figures with nine points.

The Bearcats (17-8, 2-5 SEMO) were without guard Alan Pippins, Dawson Kasting, Clay Mullins and Ben Sindle.
