Wm. Crandall Thornburgh, age 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, Feb., 18, 2018 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Thornburgh, the son of the late Benjamin Edwin and Hattie (Robinson) Thornburgh, was born March 30, 1938 in Old Greenville, Mo. He was a member of First General Baptist Church North Main, where he served as choir director. He served as choir director at Collins Chapel Church for many years. He then served as pastor and choir director at Brown Chapel Church. Mr. Thornburgh had retired as a salesman for F & S Supply Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on cars, cutting wood and fishing and hunting.

He married the love of his life, Marguerite K. Head on July 13, 1958 at the First General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2012 after nearly 54 years of marriage.

Survivors include three children, Kathryn L. (Michael) Henry of Poplar Bluff, William Douglas (Patricia) Thornburgh of Potosi, Mo. and Steven Crandall (Donna) Thornburgh of Clarksville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Wright and Linda Hackworth; and a brother, Robert Thornburgh of Poplar Bluff;.

A brother Bryan Thornburgh and a sister Karen Johnson also preceded him in death.

The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First General Baptist Church North Main with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. The Rev. John Crowley will officiate. Burial will take place at Patterson Cemetery in Wayne County.
