One night Jerry Sneathern was browsing through Facebook and ran into a site called St. Louis Vintage. It let members post old pictures of St. Louis. One night Jerry Sneathern was browsing through Facebook and ran into a site called St. Louis Vintage. It let members post old pictures of St. Louis.

"It hit me to get it started here," Sneathern said. "I saw it (Jan.) 18th and started it (with a Facebook page) immediately. It started going crazy and within 24 hours we had over 300 members."

Sneathern initially posted about 10 pictures. Then, "Gary Melton came back with a few of his and then we started adding members" to the Facebook page.

Today the Facebook site has about 2,700 members and "the last I knew about 380 pictures were posted," Sneathern said.

To view the site, one has to make a "friend" request. To be approved as a friend, Sneathern asks only two questions: 1) have you ever lived in Poplar Bluff and 2) have you ever attended school in Poplar Bluff.

People can post their photos or comment on the photos posted.

Starting today, the Daily American will run a vintage photo from this site every Tuesday. We hope you enjoy the trip down memory lane.
