From Staff Reports

The city of Puxico will allow water customers' mailing addresses to be used by Air Evac for a promotional effort, according to minutes from the Thursday, Jan. 18 board of alderman meeting.

Air Evac's parent company, AirMedCare, would like to send information and offer a 10 percent discount on annual family memberships, said Linda White, a representative of the company.

Residents can then decide whether or not they wish to participate in the promotional offer, White said.

In other action, the mayor and aldermen heard:

A maintenance position will be reduced from fulltime to parttime, following a closed session decision by the board.

Mathew Horn will now work three days a week, seven hours a day, at the same pay, $9.50 an hour, officials reported. Two of the days will be Monday and Friday, with the third day to be one of his choice.

Aldermen Gary Burns, Bill Hemby, GS Kilbreth and Gary Wilfong attended, as well as Mayor Rick McLean.

Several water leaks were caused by severe cold weather, according to a report from maintenance supervisor David Hawthorne.

The fire department was also impacted by this, with a pipe freezing and busting. Aldermen were told it would need to be repaired.

Aldermen voted to purchase new pagers for firefighters, and one set of new turnout gear.

Pagers currently used by firefighters have been refurbished, but do not seem to receive signal as well as they should, said assistant fire chief Stacy Starnes. New digital pagers will cost $450 each. The board told Starnes to purchase two of the pagers, and come back if he feels they work well for the department.

Starnes reported the fire department worked a gas spill at Bill's Market in the past month and had two false alarms, one at Puxico Nursing Home and one at Holloway Distributing.

Starnes asked the mayor to appoint two firefighters: Tyler Rasberry and William Dustin McCain. The appointments were made and approved by the aldermen. New mufflers have also been put on the fire department tanker.

Marshal Rick Sheren listed the tickets/summons to be heard at the Feb. 6 city court. Sheren said he assisted the county on several calls and had two cases moved to state court. He told the group the Impala has been to Glen Sain at Kennett to have the fan repaired.

Lisa Brewer stated the dog she mentioned at the Dec. 21 meeting was still running loose. McLean said if the animal control officer found the dog running loose, the owner should receive a court ticket/summons for the violation, and, if possible, pick the dog up.

In a written report, the group learned the librarian has been checking on the roof repair and at this time has not seen any leaking.

Emergency management will meet with the Missouri Floodplain group at the end of January concerning floodplain mapping.
