POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Paul William (Bill) Booker, of Poplar Bluff passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the age of 62.
Bill was born to Paul and Eleanor Carter Booker on May 12, 1955 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., both of whom preceded him in death.
An all-star pitcher with a wicked curve and a trumpet player for the marching band, he graduated as a member of the PBHS class of 1973. An avid outdoorsman with a passion for turkey hunting, bass fishing and trapping, Bill put together a trophy room that rivaled Bass Pro. He would go on to share that passion for a couple of years in the late 80's as the host of a daily hunting/fishing radio show on KLID.
Bill worked for Kerasotes Theatres for nearly 20 years, spending the last 15 managing the Rodgers Theatre. If you grew up in the Poplar Bluff area and had a first date in the 80's or 90's, there's a good chance Bill was there, turning down the lights and firing up the projector.
Bill is survived by his loving partner of 11 years, Nancy Strange; older brother Phillip (Betty) Booker; son Jeremy (Carrie) Booker; and daughter Brandi (Matt) Wilkerson. He had 4 beloved grandchildren, Jacob, Lauryn, Kaitlyn and Megyn.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Cotrell Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, the 24th from 5 to 7 p.m.
