MALDEN, Mo. -- Floyd "Sodie" Hampton, 89, of Malden died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at The Village of St. Peters in St. Peters, Mo. He was a salesman for the Morton Salt Company of Chicago, a partner in Hampton Insurance and Real Estate and an agent for Farmers Insurance Group for 26 years. MALDEN, Mo. -- Floyd "Sodie" Hampton, 89, of Malden died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at The Village of St. Peters in St. Peters, Mo.

He was a salesman for the Morton Salt Company of Chicago, a partner in Hampton Insurance and Real Estate and an agent for Farmers Insurance Group for 26 years. Sodie attended the Cross Country Trail ride in Eminence, Mo. for 47 consecutive years and was a long time auctioneer.

Born in Malden, Mo.. on May 13, 1928 he was the son of Felix Sr. and Fletie Hampton. On Jan. 14, 1985 he was united in marriage to Ruth Whiteley, who survives.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers: Herbert, Fred, Victor, Clarence, Walter, Wyman, David and Felix Jr.; four sisters: Mattie, Ruth, Helen and Maxine. Survivors include two sons, Bill Hampton and wife, Connie, of DeLand, Fla. and John Hampton and wife Peggy, of Malden, Mo.; two stepchildren, Charles Whiteley and wife Ava of St. Peters, Mo. and Jodie Schieferle and husband, Mark of Naples, Fla.; two grandchildren, William R. Hampton and J.J. Hampton; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Landess Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel with Reverends Aulden LeBlanc and James Hamlett officiating. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a church or charity of your choosing.
