Poplar Bluff City Council member Philip Crocker says he does not plan at this time to run for a second term.

In a comment for a Wednesday article in the Daily American Republic, Crocker indicated he would file for the April 3 election.

Crocker offered a correction Thursday, saying he misunderstood the message he received.

No one had filed as of Wednesday for Crocker's seat in Ward 4 or that of Mayor Ed DeGaris in Ward 2.

DeGaris has also said he will not file for re-election.

Filing opened Dec. 12 and continues through Jan. 16.

The Ward 2 and Ward 4 spots carry three-year terms.

Filing can be done from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan 16.

Candidates must be 21 years old, a citizen of the United States and have lived in the ward they are seeking election to for one year.

The position of mayor is chosen by a vote of the city council, following the election.
