A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 8 for a Poplar Bluff, Mo., man arrested on charges of drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child.

Lee Marvin Hamilton, 36, is being held today at Butler County jail on a $500,000 bond. He appeared in a Butler County court Monday and waived formal arraignment.

Four minor children have also been placed in state care following a the execution of a search warrant Dec. 13 at 1828 S. 11th St., according to Poplar Bluff Police Department.

The warrant was the result of a two-month long narcotics investigation by the Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, police department and Butler County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators seized approximately three-quarters of a pound of suspected "ICE" methamphetamine, one pound of high grade marijuana, a Rossi .357-handgun and ammunition.

Smaller amounts of suspected Ecstasy and LSD were also seized.

Hamilton faces charges of second degree trafficking drugs, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and first degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Astasia Phelps, 29, was also arrested and faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child.

This investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected, according to police.
