DONIPHAN -- Klay Barton set the Doniphan High School single-game scoring record Tuesday night with 51 points in a 92-52 win over the East Carter Redbirds.
Barton's big night surpassed the previous record of 49 points set during the 1993-94 season by Brock Littles.
Littles hit for 49 twice during his senior season first against Poplar Bluff and then Naylor.
Barton, a 6-2 senior guard, scored 28 points in the first half as the Dons took early control with 54-19 halftime lead.
Barton added 21 points in the third quarter to match the school record and left the game in the fourth quarter after getting record on a putback.
Barton already owns school records for most career 3-pointers and most 3-pointers in a single season. He began his senior season with 1,222 career points to rank eighth on the DHS all-time list.
