Good little boys and girls in the area will be lining up to give the jolly man in red their Christmas lists during the annual Santa Land, hosted by several area local organizations, at the Black River Coliseum.
Santa Land will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for anyone with special needs.
"This is a great opportunity and good environment for kids to come, have fun and see Santa," Kelly Hewitt of Walmart said.
The floor of the coliseum will be transformed into stations with more than a dozen area merchants scheduled to be on hand, Hewitt said, with booths providing crafts, games, giveaways and a goodie bag for the children.
A few of the merchants scheduled include Poplar Bluff Pediatrics, Highland Health Care, Hearts for Rescue, Petco, Banner Finance, Walmart, Home Depot, the Boys and Girls Club and several area churches.
Plenty of photo opportunities will be available at Santa Land with several guests and mascots in attendance including Elsa from Frozen, reindeer, the Grinch and the Walmart Spark just to name a few.
Along with the special guests, clog dancing will take place to provide even more entertainment.
"Not only will guests be able to watch, but they can participate," said Hewitt of the Santa Land activities.
While the event and activities are geared towards children 12 years and younger, Hewitt said the entire community is invited to Santa Land free of charge.
Cookies to decorate, popcorn, hot chocolate and soda will be available throughout the evening.
Santa will be on hand for the entire event to take photos and speak with children, but his line will close at 7:30 p.m. to allow time for everyone to meet the guest of honor.
A photographer will be at the event to take photos of children with Santa and they will be uploaded to the Facebook page, Santa Land Poplar Bluff, Mo., for guests to download and print as many as pleased.
"We are glad to be a part of this event for the community and children," Hewitt said.
