FISK, Mo. - Stella Faye Lewis, age 89, of Fisk, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at Puxico Nursing Center, in Puxico, Mo. Mrs. Lewis was born Sept. 28, 1928 in Shook, Mo., daughter of the late John Francis and Stella Bennett. She was a homemaker and in her early life she co-owned and operated a store at DePoyster. She later worked at H. W. Gossard garment factory and retired in the early 70s. She attended Walnut Grove General Baptist Church until her health failed. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. On September 28, 1946 she married Martin D. Lewis. He preceded her in death on June 6, 1992. She is survived by one son: Melvin Lewis and wife Darlene of Fisk, Mo.; two grandchildren: Melanie Rommel and husband Steve of Poplar Bluff, and Lee Lewis and wife Denise of Fisk; three great grandchildren: Kylee and Carter Lewis and Rachel Rommel and one sister-In-law: Mary James of Blytheville, Ark.. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at White-Sanders Funeral Home, Fisk. Funeral services will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens at Poplar Bluff. The family request memorials be made either to the Walnut Grove General Baptist Church or the Fisk Presbyterian Church.
