"The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them (the redeemed); and the desert shall rejoice and blossom at the rose." Isaiah 35:1. This is in direct contrast to the populous, fruitful country being turned into an unpopulated wilderness in the 34th chapter. One shows the result of God's judgement and the other God's redemption. Symbolically those whose lives are spiritually empty and dried up shall be re-born and become fruitful in Christ's kingdom. Even the Gentile nations that have long been a spiritual desert will receive the Gospel and blossom out with love, joy, peace and other fruits of the Spirit. "Strengthen the weak hands and confirm the feeble knees," he says. Give them faith, courage and hope to face life. Tell the fearful to be strong and fear not, for their God will come and save them. The blind shall see and the deaf shall hear; the lame shall leap like a deer, and the dumb shall sing His praises. v 4, 5, 6. The coming Christ shall heal not only your physical blindness and deafness but your spiritual blindness and deafness also. The withered, neglected, sin-contaminated spirit of man shall be regenerated and made whole. What a message!
