The Neelyville R-IV School District will be hosting its annual Veterans Day program and the community is invited to attend as well as all veterans and active duty members.
The program will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the Neelyville High School gym.
"It truly is always a wonderful program," Hillview assistant principal Debra Parish said.
The program is set to include a slide show of local veterans and student's family members who are veterans or on active service.
The Color Guard will present and retrieve the colors followed by an introduction of all veterans and active service members in attendance.
Poetry contest and art winners will be recognized as well as information regarding an art/history cross curricular activity.
The crowd will be treated to performances by the choir and individual students.
"We want to involve our students as much as we can," Neelyville Superintendent Brad Hagood said. "We believe it is important for our students to understand the sacrifices that have been made in order for us to have the freedom we have."
The program will conclude with a traditional, special performance by Hagood, singing "God Bless The USA."
"Our goal is to show gratitude to veterans and soldiers for their service," Hagood said. "And to also use this as a teaching moment for all our students."
