The 12th Annual Fill the Fire Truck Food and Non-perishable Items Drive sponsored by First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the 10 Box located at the corner of PP Highway and Shelby Road.
The food drive will benefit St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and Child Concern in Poplar Bluff.
Suggested items to be donated are: powdered milk, canned meats, peanut butter, toilet paper, rice, pasta, oatmeal, boxes of cereal, and canned foods (vegetables, fruits, and soups.)
Butler County has a very high food insecurity ratio for its residence. 17.8 per cent of county residents have daily food insecurity. The state of Missouri average is 16.4 per cent.
Monetary donations may also be given.
The participants can purchase almost $3 worth of food with each dollar that is donated.
Donations will be split equally between the two organizations.
Pastor Chiastak hopes to see everyone Saturday at 10 Box as we each make a difference to alleviate hunger in Butler County.
