Van Buren cleaned up at the MSHSAA Class 1 District 3 cross country meet, with both the boys and girls teams winning Saturday at Willow Springs, Missouri. The Lady Dawgs swept the top six places and had all eight runners finish in the top 14 overall in advancing to the state meet next Saturday in Jefferson City...

Van Buren cleaned up at the MSHSAA Class 1 District 3 cross country meet, with both the boys and girls teams winning Saturday at Willow Springs, Missouri.

The Lady Dawgs swept the top six places and had all eight runners finish in the top 14 overall in advancing to the state meet next Saturday in Jefferson City.

Jennifer Morey won the race in 21 minutes, 46.23 seconds and Cora Wiley was third in 23:37.

Halee Bressler and Morgan Shockley took fifth and sixth. Bressler crossed the finish line in 24:13 and Shockley finished in 24:15.

Arian Stafford and Jalynn Morgan also finished together in eighth and ninth place. Stafford's time was 24:35 and Morgan finished in 24:54. Zoie Gonzalez then took 14th in 26:12.

For the boys, Tristan Keeney finished second in 18:27.65, a second behind Viburnum's Ethan Boyle.

Dominic Hill was fourth in 18:55 and Haden Barnes got sixth in 19:02 as the Bearcats had half of the top six finishes in the race.

Jacob Brown (19:55) and Will Towner (19:57) were 18th and 19th and Wyatt Dougherty finished 24th in 20:22.

Class 2 District 1

At Arcadia Valley, East Carter's Wyatt Elliott finished fourth in 17:30 to advance to the state meet. Isaac Thompson came in eighth in 18:11 and Drake Epperson was 15th in 18:32, taking the last indivdiual spot.

Kyren West finished 29th in 19:29 and Ashten Hayman was 33rd in 19:35 for East Carter. Colby Duckett took 57th (21:47) and Cody Hampton was 58th (22:11).

A pair of Bloomfield runners advanced to state by finishing in the top 15 as the Wildcats took sixth as a team.

Nicolas Carter and Riley Burns led Bloomfield. Carter took 11th in 18:20 and Burns was right behind him to finish 12th in 18:22.

Seth Stroup edged out teammate Noah Hester to finish 30th in 19:30. Hester was 31st in 19:33. Teammate Bryant Vaughn was 62nd (22:52) and Logan Parks was 66th (26:37).

For the girls, East Carter's Kennedy Thies finished seventh in 21:41 and Greenville's Kate Bangert finished 14th in 22:35 to qualify for state

Greenville's Kehaunani Brewington placed 30th in 24:51 while Savannah Colbert took 35th (25:46) and East Carter's Genesis Brannon was 45th in 30:22.

Class 3 District 1

Dexter's Emily Ladd and Margo Nea finished in the top 10 to qualify for state. Ladd took seventh in 20:23 and Nea was ninth in 20:28 at Dexter High School.

The Lady Bearcats finished sixth after their other three runners placed outside of the top 40.

Olivia Milam took 49th (24:52), Jonni Hill was 53rd (27:01) and Shelby Haynes finished 55th (27:48). Dexter's sixth runner, Shelby Smith, was 57th (29:24).

The boys team finished ninth and didn't have a runner finish in the top 30.

Lucas Goodrich led the Bearcats after finishing 39th in 18:59 and Dawson Kasting was 47th (19:31). Sean Rybolt and Carter Dorton finished back-to-back. Rybolt took 52nd (19:37) and Dorton was 53rd (19:40). Andrew Ellinghouse completed the team score after finishing in 57th (20:07).

Wyatt Parker and Nathaniel Drivas also competed and Parker finished 65th (21:11) and Drivas was 66th (21:17).
