The Oak Grove Homemakers Club met Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the home of Helen Birdsong. Each member brought their own special dish of food to compliment the main entrée provided by the hostess. Reba Marion offered thanks for the noon meal. Dorothy Robbins presided over the meeting. Birdsong gave a devotional by reading verses 16-18 from the fourth chapter of First Thessalonians.
Roll call was answered by telling of a first pet who was remembered by club members. Eight members were present with two visitors, Tiffany Cole and her 6-month-old son, Brayden Cole. Mary Thurman gave the secretary's report and Tammy Bogie gave the treasurer's report, both were approved.
Old business was an acknowledgement from the Poplar Bluff Library of two recent books placed in the library in honor of two deceased club members. New business was the submitting of names for next year's officers to be voted on at the November meeting.
Congratulations was given to Ann Osborn and her family for being selected as "Yard of the Month." Birdsong displayed her Club Friendship quilt, which was given to her in 1979. Each member had embroidered their names on a quilt block and was quilted to form a quilt of 28 blocks.
Reba Marion won the door prize. Birdsong opened her hostess gifts and thanked everyone for the gifts. The meeting concluded with the recitation of the Club Collect. Donna Pirc plans to be the hostess for the November meeting.
