ELLINGTON, Mo. -- Authorities are tracking down leads today as they search for two suspects wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at a residence outside of Ellington.

The shooting occurred at about 4 p.m. Wednesday at a residence, located west of Ellington, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Kinder, Troop G's public information officer. The home reportedly is on Highway 106.

"It started inside the residence as far as I know," said Kinder. "... There were three people wounded during the shooting."

All three were transported to a St. Louis, Mo., area hospital with what Kinder described as "undetermined injuries."

Reynolds County Coroner Jeff McSpadden said one of the victims, a woman, died at the hospital.

Kinder, who was en route to the scene at press time, anticipated knowing further details about the other victims' injuries after he meets with Reynolds County Sheriff Tom Stout.

To assist in the investigation, Kinder said, the highway patrol has four investigators at the scene. The patrol's Violent Crimes Support Unit, he said, also was en route from Jefferson City, Mo.

The details are "still pretty sketchy; there's not a lot of information to go on, but they are tracking down some leads," Kinder said.

A suspect vehicle, Kinder said, has been described as a dark blue sedan, possibly a Saturn, with a spoiler and occupied by two white males.

Given the circumstances, Kinder said, one "can only assume" the men should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or suspects is asked to call the Reynolds County Sheriff's Department at 573-648-2491 or Highway Patrol at 417-469-3121.
