FISK, Mo. -- Anna Belle Hayes, 95, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mrs. Hayes was born Nov. 20, 1921 in Broseley, Mo. She started her teaching career at the Walton Chapel School and had taught at several other area schools for several years. She ended her teaching career as an adult education instructor at the Mingo Job Corps. She also worked with her husband in their family business (Hayes Flying Service). She served on the Butler County Fire Board for many years. She enjoyed playing piano and quilting. She was a member of Ash Hill General Baptist Church at Fisk.
On Dec. 27, 1941 she married Linus Hayes. He preceded her in death in March of 1985.
She is survived by one son: Jonnie Earl Hayes (Janet K. Brown) of Wappapello; two daughters: Linetta Ann Shannon of Tennessee and Kimbra Jonetta Thurman (Dewey) of Flat Rock, Ill.; three grandchildren: James Earl Powers of Advance, John Edward Powers of Poplar Bluff and Teresa K. Harrison of Perryville, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at White-Sanders Funeral Home, Fisk. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Catherine Bryant and Rev. Gary Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Poplar Bluff, Mo.
